Familiarity of the Imagined

In her new body of abstract paintings, "Familiarity of the Imagined," Erin Carney engages with the visual effects of scale at the extremes. She draws from a variety of source material for inspiration: aerial landscape photography, microscopic imaging, color patterns related to topography, patterns related to sediment deposits and water depth, and ice crystallization. The work exhibits, above all, her robust appetite for color and material exploration in oil paint.
